Save for the disruption of a pair of snow days, all of our classes have gone skating and made great progress on the ice! Thank you to the tremendous group of volunteers who put in huge hours at the school to make this happen, with a special shout-out to Liz who completed nearly half of all fitting sessions.
We are still in need of skate and helmet donations. If you have any outgrown skates or sizes, donating them guarantees years of future use by countless students. Please simply drop them at the school office!
Snow day was an incredible success! Congratulations to all of the talented performers and a huge thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers and our indefatigable writer/director Heather who made it possible!
Our school community has unlimited subscription access to TumbleBooks!! It's a fantastic reading tool that you and your children can use to practice reading with read-aloud and guided stories, plus math games and more.
The login details have been circulated to the school community by email, or email us if you need help!
Our school library is a cornerstone of learning, imagination, and discovery, but many of our books and shelves are outdated, or worn.
To continue inspiring young minds, we need your help to:
Replace outdated books with current, engaging titles that reflect today’s world.
Replace worn and damaged copies of popular titles to put high-demand favourites back in circulation for our students.
Add new resources to spark creativity and foster a love of reading.
Upgrade shelving and furniture to create a safe, welcoming space for students to learn and explore.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to meet the immediate needs of the library.
Please consider making any donation today. You can give online through School Cash Online or follow this link for instructions.

Each spring, Dr. Rita Cox Kina Minagok (formerly known as Queen Victoria Public School) hosts a community Fun Fair, and we want you to be part of the excitement! Nestled in the heart of South Parkdale, this event promises a day filled with laughter, joy and unforgettable memories for our beloved students and families.
This isn't just any ordinary fair—it's a vital opportunity for us to rally together and raise essential funds. These funds will directly support our in-class science and art programs, enriching field trips, crucial equipment upgrades and so much more. Last year’s fair was a huge success which saw our community come together in a most amazing way!
To build on the momentum from last year’s fair, we're reaching out to you, our valued community members, for sponsorship support. Your contribution will not only help cover the costs of the Fun Fair but also leave a lasting impact on our school and students. In return for your generosity, we have curated various sponsorship levels, each offering prominent recognition for your support.
Imagine your company name proudly displayed on a towering thank-you banner along a bustling section of King Street (between Jameson and Close Avenues), an unmissable testament to your dedication to our cause. The banner will be up for at least 35 days, receiving approximately 20,000 daily impressions (approximately 700,000 total impressions). Your support will also be celebrated across our social media channels, during school announcements and commemorated with a personalized thank-you card from our school.
To make a donation, please click on this link below which will direct you to the cash online website. Please ensure that:

Dr. Rita Cox – Kina Minagok Public School is an inner-city school serving a diverse student population over 700 students. The school, formerly named Queen Victoria Public School, was founded in Parkdale in 1887.
The current school building was built in 1999, and the decision was made to rename the school in 2022, following community consultation and recommendations made by a School Naming Committee. The school was named for the revered community librarian and veteran advocate for children’s literacy, Dr. Rita Cox. Kina Minagok is an Indigenous phrase that translates to "all grows well together" and signifies the school and community’s role in nurturing the growth of students.
